This is a typical home in Mozambique. This superficial structure provides shelter to the family who calls it home but also to insects and rodents. Fleas and jiggers live in the dirt floor and often burrow into the hands and feet of those sleeping inside its walls. These unwanted residents spread malaria, disease and illness. During the rainy season, it is not uncommon for families to sleep standing up as the floors turn into mud. Eventually, the walls will fail and the family will attempt to rebuild it with mud and sticks.

Children’s Relief International has hosted the Green Door Race in Rockwall for the past 9 years in the effort to raise awareness and funds of the Green Door Project in Mozambique and now Haiti.

We are looking for individuals and businesses to sponsor the Green Door 5/10K + Fun Run to help us reach this year’s race goal of 15 homes. Sponsorship levels range from supporting a portion of a home in Haiti to the cost of an entire home in Mozambique.

Your sponsorship will help provide the life-changing gift of a home to those in great need—widows, orphans and the handicapped.

See the different ways you can sponsor below. Have questions about becoming a sponsor? Contact Holly Green or Lindy Pieratt for more information today.

*For various reasons, a Green Door Home in Haiti is almost three times the size of those built in Mozambique making the total cost $6500. A portion of sponsorship levels 1-4 will go towards homes in Haiti. All Home Building sponsorships will go to Mozambique.

With your help, we built a record 53 Green Door homes in 2017.
